About Okierover

Me

Once upon a time, I was an artilleryman in the United States Marine Corps Reserve. I made it to Corporal (E-4) before I met my future wife. I’m a husband, dad to 3 great adults, and PawPaw to 5 (so  far). I dabble in the day hours in business analysis and project management. I haven’t aspired to be much in life beyond all that. That’s probably a good thing, because all that consumes my every waking thought.

This blog is about my ownership of a Land Rover while living here in Oklahoma. I also occasionally blog about overlanding, camping, living history, Oklahoma’s freakish weather, family, and sometimes even sports. My aim is to entertain and instruct when possible. I learned all I know from someone else and love to share what I have learned in order to pay that forward.

I encourage you to comment or you can contact me by email at okierover @ gmail dot com or at the social media site links found on the blog.

Thanks for reading and Happy Rovering.

  1. Hey Okierover, Any luck with the Swing-away tire carrier? I have a 92 SWB that I’m re-building for adventures here in California and have had no luck with finding a tire carrier to my liking and have looked at the very one you reference from http://www.rockrover.com/. Anyhow, keep on keeping on and keep up the writing!

    1. I haven’t. I’m about half convinced to make my own. The Evil German Dude had some great ideas on design. Just need to get some funds together. Thanks for reading.

  3. Hi from New Zealand. i have a 91 Range Rover usually refered to as the Big Green Pig, depending on how it’s going or not going! it’s my second RR, the first was a two door model, shows i don’t learn fast! i have wandered into your site once or twice before and found your tech tips very helpful. my heater now has solid state speed controls, thanks to you. unfortunately the fan speed selector seems to have died and the mechanic is looking for parts, the USA isn’t the only place where it’s hard to keep an old Rover in going order. other than the heater mine is reliable and still a very comfortable and stylish ride. i was looking for the definition you had posted about what a Land Rover is… I’ve had three Land Rovers and the definition is so very accurate.
    regards henry

  4. As you’ve progressed into newer explorations… you seem to have forgotten about your beloved children. An update on your children would be much appreciated kind sir. I’m worried for their well-being, honestly.
