Site Issues (Post #608) 4/8/2023

Me sitting in the engine bay.
Back in the day when we fixed the head gasket issue.

I had some issues with the site since I upgraded to the “fancy” theme. What I have learned is this managing of a WordPress site and all the plugins to make it secure and backed up is really hard. So instead of learning how to use my new welder, today I’m working on the site.

I guess I’ll need to seek some outside assistance. I’ll probably look for one of those public support groups. Anyway, hopefully the site is back up and you can find the content you are looking for.

Overland Bound Community (Post #593) 9/8/2021

As most of you know I moved to a new town a few years ago. My logo had our old town on it. Back in the day with what passed for graphics tools, I could pretty much “photo-shop” just about anything. When my friend Rich Mullins reached out and offered to modernize my logo I was thrilled. Rich did a great job.

With time, I’ve fallen out of contact with Rich. This is a tragedy in its self and someday I’ll speak more about how we don’t communicate like we did. Back to the story, I looked at the logo with my weak set of tools available to me. There was no way I was going to be able to fix my logo.

I got a wild hair and went out to the Forum on Overland Bound where I am member #1411. I asked if anyone could fix my logo. Within a few minutes the founder, Mike member #0000, reached out and said he would help. I also watch Mike’s Youtube channel and I knew he was headed out to the Overland West Expo. I didn’t think he would have the time, but you never know. Conner #7206 also offered to help. With no word from Mike, I told Conner it looked like Mike wouldn’t be able to get to it.

Conner fixed it for me. I offered to send him something but he was just happy to help. That was so generous of him.

A great big shout out to Conner from Yuma. Thank you for your help. And if I’m ever able to get out on the trail the beers are on me.

Conner runs a 2010 LT 1500 4×4 5.3 Silverado. He has a fair set of mods. As you can see at the time of this post, he is working on his front bumper. From a farm truck to overland rig.

Thanks again Conner.

Blog Site is Backup (Post #582) 1/31/2019

404

Sorry for all the trouble this past week with my site. I’ve been trying to get my site updated and secured. This has taxed my abilities in the web hosting universe. This ain’t as simple as turning a wrench.

Anyway, you can feel all warm and fuzzy now that my site has an SSL certificate. I am trying to get redirects up to send you to the HTTPS site no matter how you’ve saved my shortcut. I may have to call back into tech support for that.

Thanks for your patience, thanks for reading, and Happy Rovering.

Missing Posts: The Details (Post #565) 1/22/2017

I

‘ve noticed lately that I am getting 404 reports from Google. I looked and noticed a couple of obvious posts were missing. The Capulin Volcano posts were missing. I’ve been putting them back up as I have time. But today I wanted to share an ignition module issue with another RRC owner and it turned out it was missing too. Overall it seems I’ve lost 7 posts.

  • 250,000
  • A Little Maintenance
  • Overlanding Kit on the Way
  • Dash Mounts
  • Goodbye Lucas Ignition
  • New Tires
  • Ignition Module Failure

I am sure this all happened when I had the issues with my WordPress setup. I post to Tumbler as well and most of the time the post is over there. So I’ll be restoring them in the coming days.
Sorry for the inconvenience.
