Bigfoot Talisman (Post #510) 8/30/2014

I saw this fused glass Bigfoot at the Midsummer’s Night Fair a couple of weeks ago.  I was there to see the Oh! Johnny Girls.

They were as awesome as I expected them to be. But the Bigfoot Talisman haunted me on the bicycle ride home. I told Mr. Fisher that it was imparitive that I get one for the Big White Bus.

So I checked with Mrs. Fisher who had very adepty stalked them and hooked me up with them on Facebook. I found out they were setting up at the Oklahoma City Arts Festival. I dragged Mrs. Okierover to the festival to pick up a fused glass Oklahoma necklace for her and my talisman.

They both look great and now when go down to Southeast Oklahoma to cruise the back roads like outlaws, we won’t have any trouble with Bigfoot due to the supreme mojo of the talisman.

I urge you to check out Jim Shelley’s work. I know you will see something you like. And if you want protection from Bigfoot while in the bush, this is the only place you can get a fused glass Bigfoot Talisman.

Working On It Yourself (Post #472) 3/20/2014

I was reading the Roadtrippers blog and saw a post on “The Greasy Hands Preachers”. The Greasy Hands Preachers is a feature film documentary shot in 16mm in June August and October 2013. To be completed early 2014. The film explores the values and the benefits of manual work amongst motorcycle enthusiasts. They have a nice teaser video.

I totally get what he’s saying at 2:05 in the video.

“There is a great satisfaction when you know how to work on your motorcycle even a little bit….I find some paper clip and some gum and I’ll get home.”

Vacation Planning Time (Post #446) 2/7/2014

It’s time to start your vacation planning. I know it’s only February, but if you plan to see any of our great national parks, you need to start now. Reservations are necessary if you plan to stay in any of the park’s resorts. A budget for your trip is necessary. Dude, there is a serious lot to do, get started!

Mrs. Okierover and I went on a 3900 miles trek to Glacier National Park with another couple back in August of 2012. It was amazing. I can’t believe I didn’t post a story about it. If I did, I can’t seem to find it. I will have to recreate the posts and get it up on this page. It was an epic trip and a very good time for all.

In any event we went to one of the most gorgeous places on earth, Glacier National Park. Today Roadtrippers.com ran a time-lapse video of the Going to the Sun Road. I stumbled upon a video someone posted on Roadtrippers.com website for Glacier National Park. There are a great many links to click in there. Here is a short video (01:18) about the park by Joe Nugent.

Mrs. Okierover and I have talked about going back as have our friends. Their schedules did not align well last year or they would have gone again in 2013. We have a few trips ahead of this one. We have talked about going out to California again. We have talked about going to Massachusetts. We have talked about going out to Washington, DC again. And Mrs. Okierover has always wanted to visit a beach with clear water. I’m thinking this will be The Keys in Florida. Hawaii, Guam, Australia, Brasil,…etc…

The list of places we want to go is almost endless. Most of these trips will need to wait until we retire. The time and funding is just not there right now. Such is the fate of a middle class drone in America.

Start planning, thanks for reading and Happy Rovering.

Cool New Springs (Post #372) 7/29/2013

I just picked up the Big White Bus from Mickey’s Garage. We had her in to get my recently purchased Terrafirm medium duty springs installed and some air conditioning. The air conditioning has been out since RovErica was driving her back in 2009.
The improved ride height took some getting used to on driving home. Fresh springs changed not only the ride height but how she “feels” on the road. I’m very pleased with the appearance too.
The air conditioning took some magic to get going. In the end a replaced compressor, dryer and expansion valve were needed. I’m sure the hoses will have to be replaced too. I can only imagine that the 20 year old hoses will leak. I’m optimistically hoping I can get through the heat of summer before buying any more parts.
I’ve already received some teasing from +The Evil German Dude . I sent the above picture to he and the former Titanium Hitch.
EGD’s reply, “But will it start?” was expected.
He ended the chat with, “Call me if you need a tow. It looks good…”
I have great friends.
So today has been pretty good. I received my LEAN / Six Sigma Green Belt certification this morning and my Range Rover is once again sitting in my driveway. I’m doing pretty good.
Two more check boxes closer to Circumnavigating Oklahoma. Overlanding is where its at. I enjoyed this post about a legendary overlander Francis Birtles on Overland Live.

Wanderndering? Re-Blog of Overland Live: Africa Overland in a classic Porsche (Post #301) 9/4/2012

I’m cautious of driving more than 3 hours in my Range Rover…look who the mechanic is…and this guy drove across Africa in a 944. Truly brave. Reminds of me of my good friend and Porsche aficionado liehhaber Mike Bowman. I’m sure he would love to attempt this.

Is that a great picture of or what? Click through and enjoy the story.

Overland Live – The Blog about Overland Expedition & Adventure Travel: Africa Overland in a classic Porsche: There have been a few unique overland vehicles which have completed a full trans-Africa overland journey… these include tractors, quad bicycles…

Thanks for reading and Happy Rovering Wanderndering.

PS…I’m sure my German friends will chime in with corrections to my bad German translations.
